Projekt Kolaž se ukvarja z izzivi upcikliranja in ponovne uporabe odpadnih materialov. Čeprav so projekti upcikliranja in pouporabe v sodobni trajnostni modi pogosti in že velikokrat raziskani, je polje zelo široko in inovativne rešitve še vedno nastajajo.
The Collage project deals with the challenges of upcycling and reusing waste materials. Although upcycling and reuse projects are common in contemporary sustainable fashion and have been thoroughly explored, the field is vast and innovative solutions are still emerging.
During this time, the post-coronavirus reality directed the authors, even more, to seek answers and innovations within themselves, their immediate surroundings and their familiar environment. Consequently, some materials presented themselves right within the creative environment of the faculty.
How to make something beautiful and functional from “obešanka”? (Obešanka is a Slovenian colloquial term for sample pieces of material, approximately 20 x 30 cm in size, used by manufacturers and representatives for fairs and other presentations, usually discarded after the season. In English, this would be called a sample). The faculty has a stock of such samples in various qualities and colours.
This was also the basis for the Collage project – large quantities of materials of a limited size and different qualities, colours and structures. Therefore, the primary starting point was sustainable design based on the principles of recycling and meaningful use of materials that would otherwise end up in the trash.
Hkrati so se v tem času avtorji, po dolgi izolaciji, zelo ukvarjali s telesom in vsem telesnim: oblike, proporci, razmerja, vdolbine, izbokline, spremembe, deformacije, volumni do tekstur, otipov, padca materialov, načinov spajanja, likovnosti kompozicij ... Iz abstraktnih form novih teles so postopoma nastajali novi oblačilni kosi.
At the same time, after a long period of isolation, the authors engaged intensely with the body and everything bodily: shapes, proportions, ratios, concavities, protrusions, changes, deformations, volumes, textures, feelings, drapability of fabrics, techniques of joining, compositions etc. Gradually, new clothing pieces emerged from abstract forms of new bodies.
Postkoronske asociacije so prinesle različne individualne odgovore: Re-circle. Re-body. Re-assemble. Re-balance. Re-aline.
Post-coronavirus associations brought various individual responses:
Re-circle. Re-body. Re-assemble. Re-balance. Re-align.
Techniques and processes required contemplation in such a way of working. The seemingly simple challenge of the collage technique was to find an appropriate balance between the fragment and the whole, between the individual and the team, between smart solutions in the streamlining cuts and time required by the collage technique, and the contemporaneity, attractiveness and usability of the final pieces.
