Pod skupnim naslovom Mehke forme so magistrske študentke oblikovanja tekstilij združile svoje spomine na otroštvo ter slovensko folkloro in tradicije, ki so jih poustvarile v treh povezanih umetniških sklopih. V njih je vsaka na svoj način izrazila svoje pristno občutenje mehkobe tekstilne tvarine, ki se pogosto sprevrže v svoje nasprotje – mehke, nemirne, v prostoru lebdeče abstraktne tekstilne tvorbe se v nekem določenem trenutku zaustavijo v svoji koreografiji skozi čas in okamenijo.
Under the common title “Soft Forms”, master’s students of textile design combined their childhood memories with Slovenian folklore and traditions, recreating them in three interconnected artistic sets. Through them, each student expressed in their own way their genuine feeling of the softness of the textile material, which often transforms into its opposite - soft, restless, abstract textile creations floating in space that, at a certain moment, pause their choreography through time and become solid.
Spremenijo se v tekstilne instalacije, ki se povsem prilagodijo galerijskemu prostoru. Poosebljajo temeljne tekstilne tehnike, tkanje, pletenje, tiskanje in vezenje, ki so izvedene ročno, čim bolj preprosto in elementarno. Značilne, grobe pletene površine, ustvarjene z debelimi, okornimi prejami iz surovih, neobarvanih naravnih materialov, postanejo privlačne za videoprojekcije, v katerih se najdejo slike domače vipavske pokrajine in tekstilna razmišljanja Kristi Komel. Kristi v instalacijo vpelje tudi babičin glas in pripovedovanje zgodb iz otroštva, ko so prebivalci njene rodne vasi še živeli tesno povezani z lokalnim okoljem.
The creations are transformed into textile installations that adapt entirely to the gallery space, embodying fundamental textile techniques such as weaving, knitting, printing and embroidery, executed by hand in the simplest and most elemental way. Distinctive, rough knitted surfaces created with thick, unwieldy yarns from raw, undyed natural materials become attractive for video projections, which include images of the Vipava landscape and textile musings by Kristi Komel. In the installation, Kristi also includes her grandmother’s voice and the telling of stories from her childhood, when the inhabitants of her home village still lived closely connected to the local environment.
Z občutkom navezanosti na pokrajino, ki hkrati nosi tudi vse zgodbe, ki ji jih je babica pripovedovala, se njena pripadnost domačemu prostoru še poveča. Tasja Videmšek za svoje izrazno sredstvo uporablja ročno tkanje in tisk tekstilij, s katerim se poveže s svojimi igrivimi in skrivnostnimi občutki o gozdu, kjer je preživela veliko otroških trenutkov radosti in vzhičenja.
With the feeling of attachment to the landscape, which also carries all the stories her grandmother told her, her sense of belonging to the local space deepens. Tasja Videmšek uses hand weaving and textile printing as her means of expression, with which she connects with her playful and mysterious feelings about the forest, where she spent many childhood moments of joy and excitement.
V njenih otroških očeh je bil to nov svet, poln upanja, neskončnih možnosti ter skrivnostnih gozdnih bitij in živali. V predstavljeni instalaciji je Tasja želela poustvariti občutek, ki jo vedno znova popolnoma prevzame, ko vstopi v gozd, v ta skrivnostni, novi svet, kjer se izgubi med neskončnimi vertikalami, za katerimi se skrivajo čudežni »Zajčjepalčki« in kjer v mislih pobegne nazaj v čase, ko je bila še majhna. Katarina Ekart se navdušuje nad izročilom svoje babice in eksperimentalnim kvačkanjem in pletenjem, ki se razvije v doživljanje dveh nasprotnih stanj – gibanja in zamrznitve.
In her childhood eyes, it was a new world full of hope, endless possibilities, and mysterious forest creatures and animals. In the presented installation, Tasja wanted to recreate the feeling that overwhelms her every time she enters the forest, this mysterious new world where she gets lost among endless verticals, behind which magical “Zajčjepalčki” (Rabbitdwarfs) hide, and where she escapes back to times when she was still little. Katarina Ekart is fascinated by her grandmother’s heritage and experimental crocheting and knitting, which evolves into experiencing two opposing states - movement and freeze.
Vse tri umetnice in oblikovalke ustvarjajo sodobne tekstilne izdelke, saj lahko predstavljene umetniške tekstilne umestitve vodijo v nadaljnji razvoj oblikovanja uporabnih prostorskih elementov za predelno steno, viseči strop, dekorativno stensko oblogo ali pohištvo.
All three artists and designers create contemporary textile products, as the presented artistic textile installations can lead to further development in designing functional spatial elements for a partition wall, suspended ceiling, decorative wall cladding or furniture.
